Boss ORV offers mini seed drill for quad bikes

A mini seed drill for use behind a quad bike, farm buggy or compact tractor has been introduced by Corvus UTV distributor Boss ORV.

Equipped with double-disc openers, followed by individual soft press wheels with pressure adjustment by individual coil springs, the Faunamaster 105 and 180 can be used for shallow direct-drilling or for establishing plants in a seed-bed to a depth of up to 80mm.

The smaller of the two models covers 1.05m with each pass and can be set up for seven rows at 150mm spacing or fewer rows at wider spacings – three at 350mm, for example.

With the 180 version working 1.8m wide, the maximum 12 rows at 150mm can be reduced to six at 300mm or just three at 600mm spacing.

Both versions have a divided box hopper so that fertiliser can be applied at the same time to give seedlings an early nutrient boost.

The Faunamaster seeder is equipped with couplings and a top link to operate in fully mounted form on a compact tractor with Cat I three-point linkage.

Alternatively, a drawbar assembly can be attached to the same couplings for use in trailed form behind a quad bike or buggy, pulled by a simple ball hitch.

In this configuration, an electric actuator lowers and lifts the seed drill in and out of work via the end wheel mounting arms, resulting in a raised underside clearance of some 200mm.

Whether mounted or trailed, land-wheel drive operates the seed and fertiliser metering units, while the operator-set position of the trailing arms that carry the end wheels determines the working depth.

List price of the 1.05m unit is £4,299 and the 1.8m version is £5,699 – both plus a £75 dealer charge for assembly.
