New tractor sales in October at highest volumes since 2016

More than 1,000 tractors were registered in the UK during October – an increase of 8.6% compared to the same month last year.

Figures from the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA) showed that UK tractor registrations for the first 10 months of the year were up by 5% on the year.

In total, 10,709 new tractors have been registered already in 2023.

Larger volumes of agricultural tractors over 160hp were purchased earlier in the year.

Meanwhile, sales of smaller tractors of between 50-160hp had been marginally lower.

Stephen Howarth, AEA agricultural economist, said: “Registrations of agricultural tractors in October were once again above both last year’s level and the recent average for the time of year.”

Mr Howarth added that this was the highest number recorded in October since 2016 and was as much as 30% above the five-year average for the time of year.
